THE BAND'S MUSIC
The music of "DER SCHLAEGER" is a combination of typical german "Schlager" music and kind of abstract and aggressive instrumental overlays. The lead vocals definitly represent the original harmonies and lyrics of the "Schlager" whereas the vocalist live performance has a more punky attitude.
SCHLAGER: typical german popular songs mainly from the 60ies. Very easy tunes with easy lyrics.

WERNER "ZAPPI" DIERMAIER – Drumming, machines & tapes
Founder member of Avant-Rock legend "FAUST" and "DER SCHLAEGER".
KARIN MEIER – Lead Vocals
Studied at "Hamburg School of Music". Experienced singer in different live and studio projects. Most notably performance in "Cafe Amazonien" by Franz Wittenbrink.
JOHANNES BAHLMANN – Keyboards & Guitar
Renowned jazz pianist. Played with "BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER", NDR BIGBAND, HOWARD JOHNSON and many more. Currently also a member of "HOT FIVE"
THOMAS E. MARTIN – Sounds, Guitar & backing Vocals
Played two and half years with "FAUST". Normally plays ethno-ambient music for installations, dance, etc. Member of "NATASHA" and "PASSIERZETTEL" guest musician. Plays with Zappi since 1986. Besides music he does graphic design and installation art.
FRITZ RENZO HEINZE – Bass & Backing Vocals
Played also with Zappi and Thomas on several occasions. Besides music, Renzo is a renowned designer.
